Chinese language

I noticed that you added Malaysia to the list of countries where Chinese is an official language (and you also made the same modification to the Chinese edition of this entry). Do you have a source for that? To the best of my knowledge, Malay is Malaysia's one and only official language. --Broccoli 07:34, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually I got that from Malaysia's article on Wikipedia. I'm not sure. If it's wrong, they are wrong all together. --Chochopk 07:57, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

The current revision of Malaysia lists only Malay as the official language. Previously it also had English, Chinese and Tamil, all of which are official in Singapore, not Malaysia. There is also a heated debate going on about this on the talk page. I think one of the contributors is mistaken about the meaning of official language. --Broccoli 05:37, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Since Chinese is not the official language of Malaysia, I removed Malaysia from "official language in" list in the article of "Chinese language". Same is on the article of "Chinese language" of Chinese Wikipedia. It was me who added it in those 2 places in the first place. I apologize. Time zone...

Hi, do you have your time zone map on PSD, or other format that we can modify easily (to translation) ? see french wikipedian graphists page: fr:Wikipédia:Atelier graphique/Images à améliorer, still young but active.

conditional statements in templates

Working with the succession templates, I figured out how to do conditional statements. You can read all about them here or look at {{n-start}} which has links to the other templates I created (and most of the description of how to use them) which use quite a few simple conditional statements. I think the benefit to the user is obvious (much less specialized knowledge of the templates needed), but they also keep everything in the same order, even if the editor mixes it up. Not to mention the fact that had you realized before you created all of the templates, it would've been a lot less work for you :( Ingrid 04:45, 7 January 2006 (UTC)

Conditional template

Unfortunately, I don't know. What I'd try is either use the one-line version of the table row (which I can't find an example of), or you could try html syntax for the table, which would be ugly, but not ambiguous. But actually, maybe it would still be ambiguous because you can use some html and some wiki... You could try asking at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Table. I thought it would be a good idea to move the succession box work to its own page, and archive some of our old discussions. Image copyright problem with Image:MongoliaP69-10000Tugrik-2002_a.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MongoliaP69-10000Tugrik-2002_a.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. New currency stubs

Mostly, just put them in the time-period category (probably always Category:Modern obsolete currencies, maybe Category:Circulating currencies), and the location category (Category:Currencies of Europe, Category:Currencies of Asia and the Pacific, etc. Some countries have their own subcategory of the continent categories.) As far as the banknote tables, I haven't kept track of where, but I've seen several that use the color of the note as the background for the row in the table. Whoever has been doing that has obviously spent some time on it, and might like to talk to you about the new style. With the recategorizing, I've looked at so many currency pages that I can't find it easily. I'll check around and let you know if I find it. Ingrid 14:54, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I found one at Iraqi dinar, added by an anonymous user who didn't do any of the others. This actually reminds me of another reason I prefer templates to tables. You can look up which currencies already use a template, but you can't do that with a table. Not that it's that important to me, I just thought I'd mention it. Liechtenstein frank

I was wondering about the Liechtenstein frank. I have an updated version of the book you sourced, but it didn't mention coins after the 70s. Were newer coins mentioned in the book you used? 2 questions

I have a friend in mainland China who is repeatedly unable to open the wikipedia links i send.do you have any advice or explanations for lack of access? I am currently designing my talk page and I have noticed that no user I have seen so far includes personal contact information such as anything or ICQ addresses. TRY Changes

• Currencies are dynamic and further exchange rate changes for the TRY are possible. Using an approximate date for a significant change that took several days to occur and including the approximate percentage of this change is more appropriate rather than trying to track the changes day by day. Today, 6 June 2006, the TRY has gained a bit.
• Also, there was no reason to include webpages for exchange rates to many currencies. Once one of the exchange rate webpages is tried by one, one will see that by altering input information one can get rates for as many currencies as one desires. Note that the rate webpage sometimes offers a graph of day to day changes.

I'm sorry, but i DIDN'T vandalize the Japanese Yen page

I was simply changing the exchange rate on Japanese Yen to USA Dollars based on the exchange I made on June 9th, 2006. I bought 1000 Yen for 9.79 Dollars. The exchange rate was 'as of June 5th'.

Plural of dinar is not dinara

Could you please revert all of your changes from dinars to dinara? As I already explained here, "dinara" is not sole plural of dinar and should not be used. Thanks. --Dijxtra 11:34, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

OK. It is the consensus of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics to use local form of the currency unit. You can see that in the article Polish złoty. I will revert the change for dinar if the context is Yugoslavia before the 1991 break up. I will leave the dinara if the context is after 1991, related to Nedić's Serbia, or before Yugoslavia was formed. And I won't change things like "10 dinar banknote" as it is the correct English grammar. Unfortunately, I would have to do it tomorrow. If you can't wait, I'd tell you that I did it from "What's links here" of Yugoslav dinar and Serbian dinar. But I'll do that the first thing when I'm available. --Chochopk 11:55, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
