Chord organ

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A chord organ is an electrical or air-powered musical instrument. The right hand of the musician plays the lead on the keyboard while the left hand plays the chord buttons, in the same way as one would play an accordion. Chord organs were usually toys made by the Magnus and Emenee toy companies but Hammond and Estey Organ also made professional models of Chord Organs, some Bontempi models were Chord Organs. Chord organs have seen a recent revival amongst minimalist and ambient musicians. A similar instrument to the chord organ would be an optigan.
