Chomérac
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chomérac is a medium-sized village and commune located in the Ardèche département in southern France. Situated approximately 8 km (5 miles) from Ardèche's capital, Privas, its location in the centre of the Ardèche makes it an ideal location for tourists.
The Rhône Valley, popular for its magnificent panoramas and for kayaking, is only 20 minutes drive away while the counterforts of the Alps are also within striking distance at only 90 minutes drive. Chomérac is conveniently located close to Montélimar, the famous birthplace of nougat, making it easy to get access to France's TGV network.
The village of Chomérac itself has been under membership of the French Socialist Party for several years now although resurgence of right-wing mentalities amongst the older members of the town might threaten this. The town itself is a veritable labyrinth of winding roads and little alleys, complete with a lovely umbraged park and an astounding number of bakeries (7 and counting).
The population is just under 2500 people and it stands at number 3712 in the French town rankings.
