A chocolate egg is a confectionery made primarily of chocolate (either solid, or hollow and possibly filled with cream or other fillings). They are most often associated in a non-religious way with Easter, the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs.

Chocolate eggs are popular during the Easter season. They are filled with crème, caramel, or just chocolate. The most widely known manufacturer of chocolate eggs is Cadbury, which was founded in the 1800s by John Cadbury, in England. The Cadbury crème egg, introduced in 1923, is the company’s most famous product, and is available only during the Easter season. In 1988 Hersheys Foods corporation acquired the license to manufacture and sell Cadbury brands in the United States. The Cadbury crème egg has 170 calories per serving (serving size one egg).
