"Chocolate" is a slow popdance song written by British songwriters Karen Poole and Johnny Douglas for Minogue's ninth album Body Language (2003). The song was produced by Douglas and received a mixed reception from music critics. The song was released as the third single in the summer of 2004 (see 2004 in music) and reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, where it became Minogue's twenty-seventh top ten single. It reached the top twenty in Australia and Italy, and the top thirty in Ireland.

The song was one of Minogue's personal favourites from the album, and the single release featured the previously unreleased song "City Games" as a B-side. The song was one of the first demoed for the album and was included on the fake City Games album track listing which surfaced on the internet in 2003.

"Chocolate" was supposed to be the lead single from Body Language (2003), but was scrapped in favour of "Slow".[citation needed]

  • Chocolate (feat. Ludacris) An early version of Chocolate included a rap by Ludacris but wasn't used on the final mix. (A part of Ludacris vocals can be heard at the beginning of the released version over the intro). A 1-Minute clip was leaked by late July 2006. Kylie didn't like the rap so it wasn't released.

The music video for "Chocolate" was noted for its tribute to musicals of the 1950s.

"Chocolate" featured a music video that was directed by Dawn Shadforth and was filmed on June 6 and 7, 2004 in London, England, with rehearsals six days before filming began. The video features the songs single edit and Minogue performing several jazz dance numbers in a studio-theater with back-up dancers. The video is a tribute to the MGM musicals of the 1950s, and saw Minogue reunite with choreographer Michael Rooney whom she had previously worked with on the video for her hit single "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (2001).

The video was a minor hit on music channels. Although it could not match the success of its predecessors the video was a top twenty hit in the UK, reaching number eleven on the TV airplay chart and number thirteen on MTV's Europe Top 20 countdown.

On June 28, 2004, "Chocolate" was released in the United Kingdom. The song became Minogue's twenty-seventh top ten single when it debuted at number six on the singles chart, and spent a total of seven weeks in the top seventy-five.
