Pictures

Heyas, I saw the request for help on my talk page... No problem!
Firstly, I've got to point out Wikipedia:Images, which is a great reference on how images work in Wikipedia. If you need more detail, questions on changing picture sizes, etc... this is the place to go.

The best way for me to help, I guess, is to show you some examples. Personally, I like "120px-Single.png" ... er, probably because I put it on wikipedia, y'know. :D
If I refer to the picture like this: then we get this result: image:120px-Single.png That's nice, but a bit big to put on someone's page. I also need to remember to clean it up a little. Let's try smaller: . This will give us the same picture, but shrank down to 30 pixels. Which looks a lot better leaving it on people's talk pages! Let's try something a little different:

This is a standard "I'm single" heart, used mainly in Wikipedia userboxes.
This is a standard "I'm single" heart, used mainly in Wikipedia userboxes.

That was written as: Lastly, check out Wikipedia:Extended image syntax as it gives you a better description of those weird things you can put on the image line to modify the image and the thumbnail box I hope that helps! ~Kylu (u|t) 02:56, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

Helpme- templates

How do I make a new template? Later!!! Chili14 (Talk) 03:23, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Template_namespace and Help:Template should get you started. Basically you go to a Template page, eg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Chili's_test_template and create it. Then to call in on a page you would use --Commander Keane 03:39, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Just to let you know, if you want to make a template used just on your userspace, you don't have to put it in the Template namespace if you don't want. You can make it a userpage and call it like you would a template. For instance, I've got User:Kylu/welcome and can put it on a new user's talkpage by calling: . Quite useful! (Kylu@Work) 207.145.133.34 20:57, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

iTunes images

To get a picture from an album on iTunes, you would first need to have the bought song highlighted. In the bottom left corner should be the album cover image. If you click on it, it will enlarge to full size. From here, I copied the image by taking a screenshot and cropping that in MSPaint, but pretty much any other image program should work. I don't know of a direct way to get just the image itself so you could just use my screenshot method unless one of us figures out how. --WillMak050389 04:08, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Denver 2008

Hey, Chili14. Thank you for your support of Denver's bid for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. I'm a Denver native, and I can tell you that the City and County is the best place for the DNC to come in 2008. I started the Wikipedia effort to bring the convention to my hometown back in May, and am very happy to see that others are supporting the cause. If you can, please help myself and others to promote Denver 2008 to other Wikipedians, and further Denver's bid. Thanks again! Editor19841 22:19, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Tampa 2008

Hey, Chili14. First off, good work on the User Tampa2008 template. Second, I know the dilema your having, because I've run into the same problems with promotion of User Denver2008 and the cat; "Wikipedians for Denver 2008". It's all about promotion, Chili14. I can join up with your effort to bring the Republicans to Tampa in 2008 as soon as it's been created. The problem is promoting your category, really your template, to be used by other Wikipedians. I've figured out some resolutions that might work this out. One; you can post your category under Category:Wikipedians by politics, or Category:Republican (US) Wikipedians (like you already have) and Category:User templates/Wikipedia:Userboxes/Political Parties. Also, put a notice out on Talk:Republican Party (United States) and Talk:2008 Republican National Convention promoting your template (look at my notice on Category:Wikipedian Democrats (US) for a good example). Anyhow, I hope I answered your question so that you can better get the word out on your template. Let me know how it goes. Editor19841 00:41, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Taitband.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Taitband.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:07, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Please Use the Preview Button

I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. Hey, thought you might be interested in a template I created; . It's for those of us on the often forgotten Religious Left. Anyhow, hope you enjoy it. Editor19841 23:26, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the 'star!

Hey, thank you for the barnstar you gave me. I am always glad to help in any way I can, and do what I can to help. As a new wikipedian, I knew I could only teach some things that i picked up, by now I know more, but I plan on learning all I can about the Wikipedia community. I am also glad you have expressed an interest in Christianity-related articles as I have not met many Christians here. I hope to see you around more and hope to see you continuingly expanding articles regarding dc Talk and other Christian topics.

Also, I will suggest to you, as you gave me a barnstar, the Kindness Campaign which awards users that have gone "unthanked too long". Again, thank you for the barnstar. --WillMak050389 03:28, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

You've got questions, hey?

Okay, answers!

User:207.145.133.34 is a computer at or near one of my places of employment, which while I don't actually own nor officially administer, the person who does the actual administration does not bother to do so. I have the ability and authority (albeit unofficially) to change the firewall settings for that location in order to block sites, restrict certain computers, etc. I also post from there when I'm at work and bored. As I don't want my actual account taken by some silly keylogger or whatever, I do not log in while editing or replying to messages from that IP, and therefore my messages come from that IP address.

While technically it could be anyone from that address, there's exactly one edit that I did not perform, and that's a coworker who was editing under my supervision, asking about a discontinued soda on a talkpage. Sadly, she didn't sign the post, but I don't think that's much of a reason to berate her. :D

As far as your brother editing Wikipedia, I'd ask you to strongly suggest he make an account first. Now that Bug #550 is fixed, he can make an account and continue to edit as a user even if AOL starts giving issues. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask! :D ~Kylu (u|t) 04:12, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

My Arbcomm case

Howdie. Heh..You've got a very confusing signature. I appreciate your comment on my talk page regarding my Arbcomm case. I know most people don't 'hate' Muslims, nor wish to push misleading propaganda regarding Islamic history. There's enough who do, who happen to be a danger to the Wikipedia project. I really appreciate your expressing support for me. Thanks. His Excellency... 05:31, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Helpme- archiving

How do I archive this page (a user talkpage)? I want to archive it at 20 posts.--Chile14 05:28, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

See WP:ARCHIVE. With my user talk page, I just cut out a chunk from User talk:Luna Santin and drop it into User talk:Luna Santin/Archive1. Hope that helps. Luna Santin 05:31, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
Or, later, you can use a template to hold the archives, similar to what I have on my talk page, although mine is more basic. SynergeticMaggot 05:34, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
