[edit] Meanwhile, in underdeveloped countries...

... hundreds of other charities are contributing millions upon millions of dollars to other causes, including some quite similar ones. Charity is not a zero sum game. Nentuaby 20:01, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

What? Are you saying their efforts are meaningless because the hospitals happen to be in a first-world country? Just because the US isn't a third world country doesn't mean there aren't sick and dying children who could use a little help and a smile. One charities reach doesn't change the value of any other charity. They each have there own purpose and goal, independent of one another. You want a charity that works for third-world poverty, start it yourself with that purpose and goal, and then there will be one. -- Ubergenius 15:48, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure exactly what the sentiment was, but the statement "Charity is not a zero sum game" supports the concept of "lesser" charities by noting that they do not detract from the funding of those giving to the developing world. Chris Cunningham 16:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Goal of child's play

I think this should be added in. The goal of child's play isn't quite like other charities which collect money for the hospitals to buy new equipment or general maintenance. The toys collected are mainly to improve childrens' (especially ones who are in for long-term stays) experience in the hospital to be more enjoyable.
