I question the source of the assertion that an American Missionary advised the destruction of the city walls in the 1930's. May well be true... but what's the source? If none is forthcoming I feel I must delete that assertion, made by an anonymous poster. Jfmxl 02:58, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

According to Michael Freeman's Lanna (ISB 9748225275) the walls were really teared down in the 1920s, after being built in 1858 after the refounding of the city. And in 1988 two small section were rebuilt. But no mention of missionaries in that paragraph. andy 10:35, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I am removing the paragraph asserting the Missionary instigation of the destruction of the ciy walls in the 1930's as no reference is forthcoming. Jfmxl 14:32, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
