Chips Keswick

Sir John Chippendale "Chips" Lindley Keswick (born 2 February 1940) is a British businessman. [1] He is a member of the Jardine dynasty founded by William Jardine (surgeon).

He attended Eton College and the University of Aix-Marseilles. He married Lady Sarah Ramsay, daughter of the 16th Earl of Dalhousie, in 1966. They have three sons David, Tobias and Adam.

His elder brother Henry and younger brother Simon Keswick [2] are Chairman and Director of Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd.

Sir Chips was formerly a director of Hambros Bank and colleague of Peter Hill-Wood. He is currently a non-executive director of a number of companies including DeBeers Sa, Investec Bank, Persimmon plc and Arsenal Holdings plc, the parent company of Arsenal Football Club. [3]. He has been involved in a number of other business interests as well as serving as a director of the Bank of England since 1993. His father Sir William "Tony" Keswick was also a director of the Bank of England between 1955 and 1973. (See Keswick family)

He has 20 shares in Arsenal representing 0.032% of the Company's issued ordinary shares.

He is a member of gentleman's club White's and lobby group "Business for Sterling". Keswick has sat on the board of corporate donors to the Conservatives. His social background is typical of some of the most politically active directors in British business.
