China is a large cultural region, geographical area, and civilization in East Asia.

China often refers to:

  • People's Republic of China (PRC), a state founded in 1949 and currently governing Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau; often simply called China
  • Republic of China (ROC), a state founded in Mainland China in 1912 and relocated in 1949, currently governing Taiwan, Pescadores, Quemoy, Matsu, Pratas, and some nearby islands; the contemporary state often simply called Taiwan, or known by its international designation Chinese Taipei
  • Mainland China, the geographical area of China, with the exception of the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau and the island of Taiwan and nearby islands governed by the ROC
