Chilantaisaurus ("Ch'i-lan-t'ai lizard") was a megalosauroid dinosaur from early Cretaceous China. The type species, C. tashuikouensis, was described by Hu in 1964. Hu considered it to be a carnosaur related to Allosaurus, but subsequent studies show it is actually a megalosaur, possibly a primitive member of the spinosaurid family (Sereno, 1998; Chure, 2002; Rauhut, 2001). Several other species have been described based on very poor remains. Chilantaisaurus? sibiricus is poorly described, so its relationships cannot be accuately determined (Chure, 2002). "Chilantaisaurus" maortuensis is probably a primitive coelurosaur according to Chure (2002) and Rauhut (2001). Bones attributed to "Chilantaisaurus" zheziangensis come from a therizinosaur, and may in fact come from the same individual as the type specimen of Nanshiungosaurus.
