The Chicago Unions was a professional, black baseball team that played prior to the formation of the Negro Leagues. It was started by Frank Leland in 1898. In 1901, Leland combined his Unions with the Chicago Columbia Giants to form the Chicago Union Giants which was renamed to the Leland Giants in 1905.
