Chicago Magic are a Super Y-League club based in Chicago, Illinois. They are operated by Chicago Fire Premier and Chicago Fire. The Magic have been named Soccer America Magazine's #1 Boys Club in the nation for the past two years. Mike Matkovich is the director of coaching and John Hannan is the assistant director. They have led the Magic to 75 Illinois State Championships, 20 Region II Titles, and 11 National Championships. The club currently has 10 players in the pros: Jed Zayner, Ned Grabavoy, CJ Klaas, Brad Guzan, Danny O'Rourke, Tim Regan, Eric Lukin, Ricardo Clark, Matt Groenwald, and Quavas Kirk. The Chicago Magic 87/88 team is one of the most successful teams in the history of the club. Chris Schuler (Creigton) is the team captain. They finished runner-up in the 2006 USYSA National Championship and are 4 time Midwest Regional Champions. The 87/88 Boys have tons of talent playing in college now : Akinrinade, Akin - Central Florida. Bickel, Alan - Northern Illinois U. DeGurian, Linden - Southern Illinois. De La Cerda, Luis - Northern Illinois U. Galounis, Nikolas- Augustana. Holmes, Alex - Western Ky. Kirk, Quavas - MLS - Galaxy. Knotek, Kyle - Northern Illinois U. Kopec, Paul - Western Kentucky U. Kuhn, Colin - Eckerd College. Markham, Tim - John Hopkins. Masteller, Andy - Central Florida. Rickman, Pat - Western Kentucky U. Rodriguez, Art - Lewis. Russell, Dan - Truman State Russell, Kyle - Coastal Carolina Sarkodie, Ofori - Indiana U. Sebedra, Lucas - Lewis. Sloan, Steve - Louisville. Van Houten, Hunter - Bowling Green State U. Walsh, Tim - Tampa Kozlow, Steve - Northern Illinois Waspi, Taylor - U. Wisconsin. Zeman, Mark - Georgetown U. The Magic 88/89 has also had great success and are starting to have 2007 graduates commit to top colleges along with a few 2006 graduates already playing college soccer. The 88/89 Boys are two time Super Y National Champions and two time U.S. Club National Champions along with a USYSA National Runner-up and a Dallas Cup championship. Eric Lichaj, a 2006 graduate, is at North Carolina. Lichaj is a national team player and attended residency throughout his high school career. Ross LaBauex is at Virginia and Mike Brennan is at West Virginia. Cody Stanley is the team captain and is committed to Northwestern. Andrew Duran, a national pool player, is committed to Creighton. Other players heading to D-1 programs so far are Raphael Martinez (UW Milwaukee), John Supica (Tulsa), Jack Hillgard (Northwestern), Brock Tomlinson (SMU), Aaron Nichols (Wisconsin), Jake Freisinger (Valparaiso), Jason Drews (Northwestern), Paul Tracy (Bradley), Alex Russell (Coastal Carolina), and Andy Adlard (Indiana) while Pari Pantazopolos has decided to play in Greece.
