CHIN is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts multilingual programming at AM 1540 in Toronto, Ontario. The station, owned by CHIN Radio/TV International, also has an FM rebroadcaster at 91.9 to fill in reception gaps in parts of the Toronto area — this should not be confused with CHIN-FM, which offers a distinct program schedule.
The station, Canada's first multilingual broadcast outlet, was launched in 1966 by legendary Toronto broadcaster Johnny Lombardi. CHIN-FM was launched the following year, and the AM station's FM rebroadcaster was added in 1997. The FM transmitter originally operated on FM 101.3, but was moved to its current frequency in 2002, and the 101.3 frequency was adopted by a new competing multicultural broadcaster, CJSA.
CHIN's daytime programming is primarily in Italian and Cantonese, with some Ukrainian, Romanian, Spanish, Macedonian, Greek, Urdu, Bengali, Somali, Croatian and German programming airing evenings and weekends.
