[edit] Speedy deletes

Classic Wiki BS - do not delete --ChemSet 08:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC) I didn't pull the trigger on the speedy deletes. I simply nominated them for deletion during my anti-vandalism sweeps because the articles were riddled with POV statements and spam for your company, neither of which are worthy of being in an encyclopedia. If you had contested the deletion of the articles and given a valid reason for keeping them, most likely, one of the admins would have left it up. But the fact of the matter is, an admin agreed that the articles were unencyclopedic and pulled the plug on them. So, if you have a beef, please take it up with the admin that deleted the article. Thanks. --Zpb52 03:37, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Inclusion of your company's links and how it relates to the Wikipedia

Hi there. Let me start off by saying Welcome to Wikipedia. I stumbled across an edit from you on Independent record label and upon viewing your edit history, I thought you might afford some guidance on how you can contribute to the Wikipedia.

Firstly, I'd like you to know that because of neutrality & point-of-view concerns, a primary policy of Wikipedia is that no one from a particular site/organization should post links to that organization/site etc. Because neutrality is such an important -- and difficult -- objective at Wikipedia, this takes precedence over other policies defining what should be linked. The accepted procedure is to post the proposed links in the Talk section of the article, and let other - neutral - Wikipedia editors decide whether or not it should be included. From WP:EL.

Now to put that in English: While we welcome your helpful additions to the Wikipedia, it is important that these edits are in the form of content and not advertising. Wikipedia has strict rules against advertising one's own site; if it's worth mentioning, an editor will add it anyway. If you believe it should be added and no one has noticed it, feel free to figure it out on the talk page of any given article.

However, you'll notice that Wikipedia is not a web directory; on Independent record label, I've removed all of the other-wise linked labels as well. If we were to list only a small selection of such labels, we would be doing a disservice to other small labels. (As an aspiring musician [1], I certainly feel the struggles of all forms of music..). If you are interested in contributing to the Category of independent record labels or the list of record labels, that would be a good opportunity to make a case for whether your label is notable, and therefore worthy of inclusion.

I think there are many ways that you can use your knowledge of the musical process to benefit the Wikipedia. Thank you for keeping a cool head as you learn the rules and structures of this HUGE system. It can be very daunting, but I think your heart is in the right place. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me a question on my talk page. Happy editing and good luck, Wes!Tc 06:44, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
