Thanks for correcting English to Basic, Brian. I wrote too hastily. Ed Poor, Tuesday, June 11, 2002

[edit] Life Debt: Discrediting the comic

I remember there is a novel about Han Solo's early life that describes him saving Chewbacca that is different from the comic. I think it's the A.C.Crispin series (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0553574159/sr=8-2/qid=1140674207/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-8546426-0954548?%5Fencoding=UTF8) but I cannot remember how he saved Chewbacca.

If Han saved a ship of Wookies, why is it that only Chewbacca owes a life debt? Why doesn't Han have a shipful of Wookies with him?

Chewy was the only one in a life-threatening situation at the time. The others were merely working against there will. (I can guess can't I.) 70.105.109.83 21:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] major role?

I am a huge Chewie fan, and I am called Chewie by some friends, but honestly, he did not play a major role in SW: ROTS. He was in like three scenes, max. And for most of those, he just stood there. His role was major in IV-VI, but not in III.

I agree. I'm removing the sentence describing his role in the prequel trilogy as "non-trivial". thx1138 10:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Death/Chewish Rights

I think someone needs to re-edit the death section. Some rabid Jesus freak added that Chewie's death was comparable to Jesus' and that Chewie died for Anakin's sins, returned after 3 days and spread the gospel. What the hell is that garbage? I'm Christian myself and find it insulting that someone would slander this character with religious crap - leave the bible where it is and stop trying to claim characters as Superman and Chewie as religious icons!

Okay I made the change, here's what the person put that obviously doesn't belong here. "Chewbacca's death paralleled that of Jesus, as he died for Anakin's sins, and was reborn 3 days later. He was beamed up to the Millenium Falcon, where he spread the good gospel around the universe." Just for the record it wasn't a parallel, as Chewbacca remained dead. Bringing him back from the dead would simply make the event less important and cheapen his sacrefice as well as his character.216.191.40.149 00:25, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Are you implying that by Jesus being reborn, his life was cheapened?

No it cheapens the death of the character it when groups try to tack their beliefs and cause onto a pop culture figure. This is the same kind of crap that happened earlier this year with the movie Superman Returns. Both Christian and gay rights groups were claiming Superman was an icon for their causes. Christians said he was the model Christian - who apparently isn't from Earth. The gay groups said he was the model example of a closet gay - leading two lives which apparently are of a news reporter and a superhero. Christians should stick to Jesus and .... Bibleman. Gay groups can have Northstar and those two guys in Young Avengers. Abrynkus 00:23, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Can you focus on the article at hand? Thanks. bibliomaniac15 03:05, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

-ATTENTION- I am an avid Chew. Some people out there might not know what that is so let me explain. In my relegion (dubbed "Chewism" by our Founder; Doctor Thunder PHD) we believe that Chewbacca is teh messiah. I am not a rabid jesus freak you assclown. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.191.40.149 (216.191.40.149|talk) 03:14, 12 December 2006 (UTC).
