[edit] Busybody?
Hi there. In regards to the Cherry Grove, Oregon article, I'm sorry you think I'm (or the other person who contributed) a busybody. I tagged the assertion that Cherry Grove is a Census-designated Place with a "citation needed" tag, because as far as I know, all the CDPs in Oregon already have an article. I believe Cherry Grove is actually an "unincorporated community" but I did not change it because I assumed good faith and instead provided you the opportunity to provide a citation. (We like to have everything in Wikipedia cited using reliable sources). You would do well to assume good faith as well, and I would like to point out that an edit summary that says "Editing a busy-body's entries." is not very helpful in terms of letting the other editors know what you did to the article and in fact borders on being uncivil. (Thanks for catching my typo of leaving out a word, by the way.)
I would also like to point out that once you post an article to Wikipedia it isn't "your" article anymore. As it says below the edit box: "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it." Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and we are all working together to produce the best articles possible. My area happens to be communities in Oregon, and I'm glad every time someone starts a new one, and I enjoy adding information to and standardizing these articles to make them more useful for the readers of Wikipedia. My edits--adding categories, location info, a stub tag, etc.--will help people find the Cherry Grove article more easily. I assume you want people to be able to find out about Cherry Grove, and that is why you started the article.
Though you can't really "reserve" an article, I did see the note you put on the article's talk page, so I held off adding more information in order to give you a shot at it. I didn't have to do that, and would in fact have preferred to add more info immediately, since this is an encyclopedia and the more information available, the better. Please consider welcoming rather than criticizing the collective effort of other editors. If you have any questions, please contact me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing! [edit] Cherry Grove, OR
Katr67,
I am not happy with the edits you have made already to the info I typed in on Cherry Grove. I only entered a few sentences and you have already edited it to be incorrect.
You changed my sentence: "Cherry Grove is situated on the north bank of the Tualatin river as it comes out the Coastal Mountain Range."
to
"Cherry Grove is situated on the north bank of the Tualatin River near where it originates in the Coast Range."
Cherry Grove is quite a distance from where the Tualatin River originates. What I am trying to say is that Cherry grove is where the Tualatin River exits the Coast Range (thanks for your fix) and enters the Tualatin Valley. In other words the Tualatin River flows out of the mountains into Patton Valley, which then opens up to the Tualatin Valley. That is why I called you a busy-body. It would have been better if you asked me what I meant. Hopefully you understand and would not mind fixing it.
If you are a little more patient and wait until I have entered all the information I have on Cherry Grove, you can edit to your heart's content. But it is certainly going to slow me down if I have to type these big emails to you as I slowly enter in the data. I have a lot of information to enter on Cherry Grove. The intent was that I would give the article for my wife to edit after I have entered it. She is an editor and I need her help as English is not my first language.

I'm sorry I misunderstood your wording about the location of the river. I did check the Tualatin River article, where it says "It rises in the Coastal Range in southwestern Washington County, near the town of Cherry Grove". I also checked my atlas and it appears that the river starts about 7 miles from Cherry Grove, which is the nearest town, so "near" is a relative term. If the Tualatin River article is wrong, that needs to be corrected as well. Perhaps I should have asked you, but that doesn't mean you should call me names. Name-calling does not encourage good collaboration. And instead of writing a rather uncivil edit summary, you could have explained your objection to my edit on this page or in the edit summary itself. We both were editing in good faith, however, and now we communicating, which is exactly how Wikipedia is supposed to work! Hooray!
As far as "typing all these big emails", well, like I said above, editing Wikipedia is a collaborative process, and sometimes that is what it takes to make an article the best it can be.
If you have a lot of work to do on the article, perhaps you could work on it in userspace, where it will be relatively safe from interference from other editors until you are ready to move it to the main space. This is done by making a subpage of your talkpage. I can help you do that if you'd like. Otherwise, I can promise not to edit the article until you are done, but that does not mean someone else won't come along and edit it. Thanks for your work so far. P.S. Don't forget to sign your posts with 4 tildes (~~~~)--this will provide a link to your userpage and a time stamp.

[edit] See ya!
Thank you for all your editing effort! My last thoughts on the subject is a quote from Wikipedia on major edits: "Before engaging in a major edit, consider discussing proposed changes on the article discussion/talk page."
But alas, I think it is time for me to move on and leave the update of Cherry Grove to you and other fine individuals such as yourself.
If by chance you should run across contributions I do make in other areas (which would certainly not be anything to do with Oregon or any other Pacific North West article) please pretend that you did not see it and move along.

- I'm sorry you left Booswig. I waited a decent interval before adding anything, but since you really seem to be gone, I went ahead and added what I could find. Please expand the article--if you have the Nixon book in your possession, I'm sure there is a lot more you can add. If not, I'll go ahead at some point and include some of the history that is in the external links I added. Katr67 16:51, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
