Chevrolet Omega

The Chevrolet Omega is a large automobile sold by General Motors do Brasil. Originally, it was based on the Opel Omega A and built locally from 1992 to 1998, replacing the Chevrolet Opala, which was a development of the Opel Rekord C. From 1999, it became a badge-engineered version of the Holden Commodore and was fully imported from Australia. It is still in production.

Based on the Opel Omega A, the Chevrolet Omega débuted in Brazil in 1992 with 2·0 (GLS trim) and 3·0 (CD trim) L engines. From 1995, a 2·2 GLS and a 4·1 CD became available. It was highly regarded in Brazil as an imported car's rival. It was usually available as a four-door sedan, but there was a Chevrolet Omega Suprema, the station wagon version, sold with the same engine and trim options.

For 1999, Chevrolet began sourcing the Omega from Australia. It was a rebadged Holden Commodore and its model changes mirror those of the Australian cars exactly. It has been equipped with the 3·8 Buick V6, developing 200 hp, until the 2005 model year when it took the 3·6 L Alloytec V6. Only the four-door sedan is available.
