Cheung Fat Estate
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cheung Fat Estate (長發邨) is a public housing estate managed by Hong Kong Housing Authority on Tsing Yi Island, Hong Kong. It comprises 4 blocks namely Yin Fat House, Chun Fat House, Leung Fat House and King Fat House; except for King Fat House all other buildings enjoy a serene seaview over Tsuen Wan seashore. Its Cheung Fat Estate Shopping Centre is considered as one of the most important shopping arcades under the Housing Authority of Hong Kong, and is now under the management of The Link, a REIT company, a spin off from the Authority earlier, which was listed on Hong Kong stock market in 2005. As of 2006, Cheung Fat Estate is scheduled to be "privatised" by the Authority, under a scheme in which all "flats" are set for sale by the end of 2006 to its existing tenants.
Cheung Fat Estate is easily accessible with excellent transportation facilities, including MTR (a 10 minute walk off the Tsing Yi station), its Cheung Fat bus terminus, minibuse stops, etc. Driving time from Cheung Fat to the airport, to Mongkok, or even to Fanling is merely the same -- in less than 30 minutes outside peak hours.
