Cherrim (チェリム Cherimu?) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. Cherrim is famous for being one of the Pokémon revealed before the Japanese release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, alongside Pachirisu and Dorapion. The purpose of Cherrim in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
The name Cherrim, comes from the English word cherry, as Cherrim is the "Sakura" Pokémon, and Sakura are ornamental cherry trees known for their pink blossoms. The name Cherrim refers to both the species as a whole, as well as individual specimens in the games, anime and manga.

[edit] Biological Characteristics
Cherrim appear to be humanoid Pokémon, with foliage making up their limbs and bodies. Cherrim have yellow bodies covered by pink petals, with two large berries (likely cherries) on their heads. The petals on their forehead and back resemble those of a Sakura tree, as they are classified as the "Sakura" Pokémon. The four petals on their back are connected to a round stem on the back of their heads.[3]
[edit] In the video games
Cherrim is one of many new Pokémon to have made its first appearance upon the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS. Cherrim evolves from Cherinbo at level 25.[3]
Although not much is known about Cherrim, some information has been released about its attacks and abilities. It has been noted that it can have one new ability, Flower Head, which powers itself and another Pokémon in its team up when the attack Sunny Day is in effect, although that ability may only work on the ally Pokémon during a double battle. Cherrim can also learn a new attack, Trouble Seed, which temporarily changes the foe's ability to Insomnia.[4] Cherrim learns the existing attack Sunny Day, as well as a new attack called Prayer, which prevents critical hits. It has also been revealed that it learns the attacks Petal Dance and Magical Leaf.
It has been revealed that Cherrim has different appearances depending on the weather or time of day in game, similar to Castform. When the clock is not set to daytime, or when the attack Sunny Day, which covers the field in a bright light, is not active,[5] Cherrim will appear as a closed up flower bud with purple petals enclosing its body and two short legs protruding from the end.[6]
