"Chemicals React" is the second full single release from Aly & AJ, after "Rush", from their debut album Into the Rush (2005). It is not on the original album but was included on a deluxe edition released in the United States in August 2006. Its video features Aly & AJ singing at a concert whilst playing a Gibson SG and a Fender Stratocaster, respectively. It world-premiered on June 29, 2006 on MTV's Total Request Live in the U.S., and peaked at number four on the show's countdown. Aly & AJ re-recorded the song(in Simlish) for the videogame The Sims 2: Pets. The song was also featured on a back-to-school commercial and a Gilmore Girls commercial in the United States.
As of Tuesday, September 26, 2006 the song's music video was at Number 12 on iTunes Top 100 Videos and the song itself was at the Number 11 on iTunes Top 100 Songs. It is the duo's first song to make it into the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is their most successful single in the U.S.
