[edit] Synopsis

In this episode, Chef discovers that Alanis Morissette's (fictional) hit song "Stinky Britches" is the same song he wrote years previously, before abandoning his musical aspirations. Chef contacts a "major record company" executive, seeking only to have his name credited as the composer of "Stinky Britches." Chef's claim is substantiated by a twenty-year-old recording of Chef performing the song. The record company refuses, and furthermore hires Johnnie Cochran, who files a lawsuit against Chef for harassment. Cochran triumphantly employs the Chewbacca Defense, resulting in a massive jury award in favor of the record company. Chef is left with the choice between paying the award within a few days, or going to jail.

The boys try to help Chef by rounding up various musicians whose careers have been boosted by Chef's advice to hold a benefit concert. The record company executive tries to sabotage the concert, but the outpouring of support for Chef touches Johnnie Cochran, whose heart "grew three sizes that day." Cochran switches sides, successfully defending Chef in a new trial.

Meanwhile, Mr. Garrison witnesses many strange attempts on Mr. Twig's life; he finds him boiling in a pot of water, and later snapped in half. The evidence begins to point to Mr. Hat as the culprit, culminating in a showdown between Garrison and Mr. Hat which lands the former in jail. Finally, the two are reunited at the concert and Mr. Twig (apparently) moves on.

[edit] Kenny's Death?

Ozzy Osbourne bites his head off, however he is later seen standing next to Stan and Kyle in the concert. Whether this is continuity or his resurrection coming into play remains to be seen.

[edit] Guest Stars

  • This episode also spawned an album featuring the musical performances of the guest stars featured in this episode and many others in full length.

[edit] Notes

  • Alanis Morissette, a Canadian, is animated in the same way as the American South Park characters as opposed to the normal style of Canadian characters.
  • Kenny's head being bitten off by Ozzy Osbourne is a reference to the infamous incident when Osbourne bit the head off of a live bat during a 1982 concert.
