[edit] Early life
Born in 1980 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Che Elias grew up in West Virginia and rural Ohio. After a difficult adolescence, he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he experimented with making some abstract films. Dissatisfied with the limitations of film, Elias turned to writing fiction.
[edit] Novels
[edit] Rockets Construe Vala
Elias released his first novel, Rockets Construe Vala, in 2001. The book was largely ignored, though its fragmented style and abstract layout would become hallmarks of his work. Rockets told the story of a sexual identity crisis; buried somewhere in the dense text was a visionary poet waiting to emerge.
[edit] Juliet..., Remember
Elias's vision was more fully realized with his next book Juliet..., Remember (2002). Written in a sharp and directly visual prose style, the sharp and harsh images detailed an emotional collapse through the unamed narrator's phantasmagoria. The book helped to gain wider recognition for Elias and make him more known among avant garde artists.
[edit] The Pagan Ellipsis
The Pagan Ellipsis was by far Elias's most successful book yet. The Pagan Ellipsis is an almost abstract book of philosophy about a heroine who dies comes back to life and dies again. Elias's sharp eye for detail and sense of humor shown through again.
[edit] Poems and Other Work
He released two poetry collections as well, Meddles Into Preclusion and Death Poems. As of April 2006, he was at work on several other prose works and juggling editing and layout work for Six Gallery Press, his longtime publisher.
