I very much like your rewrite, but I think the notion of a knot invariant has to be explaned at more of a beginner level in the intro. In particular the phrase "concerns primarily the knot group or homological invariants of the knot complement" deserves a paragraph or two.--agr 17:50, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your comments. I've created a short section on knot invariant (with a link to the main article on knot invariants). The idea is to put that "paragraph or two" there (with the sentence you mention), while keeping the intro short and simple. The intro still needs a lot of work, but my idea is to just summarize, give a vague idea, and not go into too much there. --Chan-Ho (Talk) 22:42, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
