Currently I live in Davis, California while working towards a mathematics Ph.D at the University of California, Davis; my research interests are in low-dimensional topology and algorithmic topology. Previously I attended Cornell University and graduated in 2001 with a B.A. in Mathematics.
I've been an "official" contributor to Wikipedia since September 5, 2004. Mostly, I stick with editing mathematics articles, although Wikipedia can suck me into areas I thought I would never venture into. Take a look at Category:3-manifolds and Category: Knot theory to see some stuff I've worked on. I particularly like to work on mathematician's bios; see J._W._Alexander for an article for which I did quite a bit of researching. My current bio project is Andreas Floer.
My webpage is here.
If you're bored, you can read some nice Wikipedia articles, Wikipedia:Featured_articles, which showcases the best of Wikipedia. For a good laugh (and object lesson), see the worst of Wikipedia, Wikipedia: Lamest edit wars.
Here's the Wikipedia picture of the day (RSS feed available):
A close-up of the face of a Culpeo, clearly showing its vibrissae, or whiskers. Vibrissae are specialized hairs that grow around the nostrils or other parts of the face in most mammals. They offer an advantage to animals that do not always have sight to rely on to navigate, or to find food, or when the usefulness of non-tactile senses is limited. Photo credit: Whaldener Endo |
