[edit] Bio
[edit] Early Life
Chadwick Donald Meyer was born in Goroka, Papua New Guinea in 1978 to American missionary parents Donald and Rebecca Meyer. Chad has three older siblings, Joshua, Noelle and Nicholas. Don and Becky Meyer worked as Bible translators with New Tribes Mission in the jungles of the East Sepik Province in a small village called Aumi among the Iwam people. During his time in PNG, chad lived at Aumi, Maprik, Wewak, and Goroka. He also visited the United States with his parents as a child. Chad attended boarding school at Numonohi Christian Academy in Goroka, located at the administrative center for New Tribes Mission at Numonohi. In 1993, when his older brother Josh graduated from high school, Chad returned to the US with his family, at which point his parents retired from the mission field after 21 years of service and joined the American workforce.
[edit] High School & College
Chad attended Portage Central High School, in Portage Michigan for 9-12 grades, where he was on the wrestling team and also enrolled in honor classes. In high school, chad maintained a 3.97 GPA, was Captain of the Wrestling team his senior year, qualified for the state tournament his junior and senior year, and was voted most opinionated and fortunately also most friendliest, along with other silly titles. He was employed at Subway for his sophmore year, and worked doing landscape and manual labor the rest of his high school years. He graduated from high school in 1997 with no plans to attend college because he couldn't afford to pay for school and he wasn't ready to go to college simply because "everyone was doing it."
So he worked at various silly jobs, including: Graphic Artist at the United Kennel Club, Kalamazoo, MI; Roofer, VM Roofing, Kalamazoo, MI; Wrestling Coach and Hall Monitor, Portage Central High School, Portage, MI; Landscaping, The Moors Golf Club, Portage, MI. During this time he began to take night classes at Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
He began to correspond with a childhood acquaintance from Papua New Guinea, who then lived in Minneapolis, MN. In the course of their friendship, he was inspired to go travel the world. So in 1999, he packed up and convinced his best friend from PNG, Jesse Low, to backpack around the globe with him. They didn't get far, unfortunately. Two weeks into the trip, Chad was struck by a car in Sterling, Scotland while crossing a country road just minutes from the William Wallace Monument. Chad bled where William bled. After 10 days in the Royal Glasgow Infirmary, he returned to Portage MI to recover. There he began working at Pharmacia and Upjohn as a Computer Support Agent. On the side he began dabbling in the internet, and soon taught himself the basics. From there he found a job as a web developer at a non-profit organization in San Francisco.
[edit] Adult Life
In San Francisco Chad met his future wife, Daniela, and they began dating in 2001. During this time he also attended San Francisco State University as a Photojournalism major. Shortly thereafter, Chad and Daniela married on February 17, 2002. That spring Chad founded a media/development company called [Crate Media] where he has worked ever since. He functions as project director and lead programmer, working primarily in PHP and MySQL, as well as all the regular web languages. In the summer of 2002, Chad and Daniela eventually left San Francisco and moved to Oviedo Florida, where Chad attended Reformed Theological Seminary. In 2005 Noa Amelie Meyer was born to Chadwick and Daniela, their first child. In the spring 2006 Chad graduated from RTS with a Master of Divinity degree. The following autumn their second child was born, Éowyn Alexandra. Chad is currently building the infrastructure of his business, focusing on an offshoot project which provides subscription web services. The project has yet to be officially named.
