[edit] Navy quote?
Just pulled this from the article as I couldn't verify it on Google. If anybody can source this, though, stick it back on in:
Side Note: He was also in the United States Navy at one point.
--Dvyost 20:55, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
- That was an opening line to the Rick James sketch on Chappelle's Show. Something like "I had just gotten out of the Navy... " Not sure how true it is. --Kevin Walter 02:03, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] How true are his stories?
C'mon now, how real is this guy?
(He's pretty real)
-- I'm pretty sure they are true stories... obviously some details might be exagerated..but don't forget that he has probably left other details out... he probably wouldn't mention a couple of prostitutes he'd pick up on his way to a party (if he did of course... just an example)...just to keep in line with the show... i have many stories to tell..and i know i leave out anything i might think would be in bad taste...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.156.208.160 (talk • contribs) at 21:42, September 4, 2006 (UTC) (→How true are his stories?)|}}
- Firstly, this is probably something better suited for Talk:List of Chappelle's Show skits. Second, they're sketchs on a comedy show. Seriously..people. Third, it's very raunchy comedy show, I doubt he'd leave out prostitutes, GIPU 69. Honestly.. ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 22:17, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] TV Guide Interview
Recently, I came across and listened to a recording of a Charlie Murphy stand-up performance from Atlanta, GA on January 28, 2006. He commented on the referenced TV Guide interview and stated that "... it wasn't the way I said it [regarding Chappelle's Show being over]." Archive is linked here (track 13, 1:40). I think the reference in the article and the line about the interview should be removed.
[edit] Brockport
I'm noticing someone keeps adding something about SUNY Brockport into the article without sources. I did a search for this and the only link which mentions any controversy at all is this post on a VH1 blog which, coincidentally enough, has exactly the same content as the first entry here, and even more coincidentally was done by the same username, Nickypap. Maybe this whole business is true, but I can find no sources for it, and as such it can't be included. If anyone wants to add this information into the article, please find a source for it first. Thanks, --Deville (Talk) 03:19, 17 May 2006 (UTC
Yes, Charlie Murphy came to SUNY Brockport in Spring 06 for the festivities of "Brock the Port". He was scheduled for an hour long show but was only on stage for approximately 20 mintues. Most of the students, however, were not drunk. Although a some were, Charlie Murphy basically was quite horrible. It was neither alcohol, nor drugs, that caused the short attention span of us in the audience, it was the lack of humor being told to us.
Wrong wrong wrong... I was backstage at this event - Charlie was pissed off that it was in an ourdoor venue. He said he said someone of his caliber should be performing indoors. I know this because I watched him tear the head off of Mike Davis, our contact at SUNY Brockport. Maybe you want to contact him for some more information.
[edit] Citation
"Charlie Murphy claimed on the first episode of Chappelle's Show, Season 3: "The Lost Episodes" that he is not mad at Chappelle for leaving because if it weren't for Chappelle, "You motherfuckers would still be callin' me Eddie Murphy's brother!" [citation needed]"
How is citation needed there? If you watch the first episode of Season 3, you can see he -did- say that. I even remember it specifically, because I looked at Charlie Murphey's page right now BECAUSE of that quote, as I had no idea that Eddie Murphy had a brother.
