The Guinness Book of Hit Singles call the group "Chairmen of the Board", and lists their 1971 single's title as "Chairman of the Board". The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Black Music lists them as "Chairmen of the Board" I also have three CDs and some vinyl LPs, all listing them as "Chairmen of the Board", so I think it is fairly conclusive.
