Talk:Chadderton
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I have notice that the view of Chadderton keeps getting changed from 'town' to 'suburb of Oldham'. I live in Chadderton, so I do know that it is a town with its own town centre. It is listed under 'Visiting Oldham' made by oldham council as a town (http://www.visitoldham.co.uk/heritage/chadderton.htm). Could the person keep changing it to suburb please state here why they keep doing this? Do they know ANY history of Chadderton?

Im '81.178.218.190' and again I would like to point out Chadderton is a town not a district. The fact it is run by Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council doesnt change the fact it is a town, just like Shaw, Royton and other places are towns. Oldham Metropolitan Borough covers the whole area, Oldham Town is one place. If it keeps getting changed I will seek protection for the page as it isnt even being discussed.

Chadderton is not a 'township' it is a town within the BOROUGH of Oldham. This article keeps being edited with Oldham centralists who want to centralise everything within the borough of Oldham into just Oldham. Please could you refrain from editing the status of Chadderton without posting reasons on the talk page, I may even agree with them. Thank you.

Keep track of the changes Jhamez84 and Aquilina make to your page. They are well known Oldham centralists.

- Well known, eh? My Mum always said I'd be famous...
- The editor above wanted to remove all mention of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham from Shaw and Crompton and Crompton House, because he didn't want potential employers who read his CV to be put off if they realised they were near Oldham(!) - see the edit summary here [1].
- He has since become a little irate at the attempts of myself, Jhamez84 and another anonymous contributor to reinclude this verifiable fact, and already been blocked once for WP:3RR - [2].
- Fear not editors of Chadderton! I fully recognise your status as a separate town within the Metropolitan Borough, and will not be covering your article with pictures of our beloved civic centre. Instead I will just carry on making surprisingly non-centralist edits to this article, like this one and this one and this one and this one...
- By the way, as for the editor User talk:62.25.109.194 who keeps changing town to township (a term which is now archaic in England) - I've left a warning message on his talk page (along with the fourteen others he's received) and brought it to the attention of an admin. I've been keeping an eye on his contributions too; feel free to do the same! Aquilina 01:25, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

- That I am also an Oldham centralist and known reported vandal is a rather petty, pathetic and nonsensical comment. The individual really needs to mature his character. I like Aqualina, am a registered and respected memeber of Wikipedia who is actually protecting pages from vandalism and centralisation. As for being a centralist, again like Aquilina, I am not, and actually spend most of my time altering pages from Oldham to the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, thus decentralising the locations. I am increasingly tired of 213.122.128.186's vandalism to various pages (Shaw and Crompton, Crompton House, Royton), and his seemingly homo-erotic obsession and provocation to my level-headed and fact based contributions. I really do not want to respond to a man over the internet for such a long period of time over such an undisputable fact, there is a sinister agenda underlying which I do not like. All of the urban districts, towns and suburbs in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, Greater Manchester are just that. They are not in Oldham town or the counties of Lancashire or Yorkshire, or even independant states that the 1974 local government reforms act forgot. That is my position and that is Wikipedia's position. Please halt this constant vandalism to proclaim otherwise. I will not respond to the vandal again.
- I trust that members will make their own minds up as to what constitutes vandalism and a vandal. Please be mindful of all edits given the current climate. Jhamez84 15:17, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
