Chazal

Chazal, חז"ל, is an acronym for the Hebrew "Chachameinu Zichronam Livrocho", חכמינו זכרונם לברכה, literally "our sages of blessed memory". In rabbinic writings this generally refers to Talmudic sages, either collectively or individually.
