Chaypee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chaypee is the Wampanoag name for a hummock in the Slocum River estuary, Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The name means "Land of the two hills". 3 other hummocks are nearby; Pesket, Pashhok, and Campeetset. Chaypee Hill Farm, a former dairy, sits atop the hummock. Many a U.N. Ambassador with his family, as well as other dignitaries, were entertained on the farm during the mid-20th Century. It is rumored that several oaks on the hummock were planted by then Harvard College student Isoroku Yamamoto, who later commanded the Japanese floatilla that attacked Pearl Harbor.
