Chaville is a commune in the southwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located 12.5 km. (7.8 miles) from the center of Paris.

44% of the land is forest. It is bordered by Meudon forest and Fausse-Repose to the other side.

It was founded in the 9th century. It was called Inchadivilla, later Chadivilla and Cativilla and became Chaville.

It is located on a road to Versailles.

Today is a suburban city and is served by public transit and is crossed by three train lines.

Chaville is served by Chaville Rive Droite station on the Transilien Paris–Saint-Lazare suburban rail line.

It is also served by Chaville Rive Gauche station on the Transilien Paris–Montparnasse suburban rail line.

Southern Chaville is served by Chaville-Vélizy station on Paris RER C. This station is located at the border between the Chaville and Viroflay, on the Viroflay side.
