#1 Chat Avenue is a popular web chat site targeted at general audiences, with separate groups of rooms for music chat, sports chat, video games chat, general chat, kids chat, teens chat, adult chat and so on. It uses a DigiChat chat interface that runs in a web browser. The site, which has been operating since 1999,[1] requires no registration, and is supported by pop-up advertisements. It uses a system of volunteer moderators to enforce chat room rules, claiming to have over 100 moderators.[1]
The company that runs #1 Chat Avenue is based in Toronto, Ontario, and also runs the chat sites chatfamily.com, kidschat.net, adultchat.net, free-chat-rooms.net, and kids-chat.com. [2]
