Chasing Redbird is a book by Sharon Creech published in 1997, which is somewhat of a companion to the 1995 Newbery Medal-winning Walk Two Moons. It is about her friend Zinny, though hardly anything is mentioned about the aforementioned book.
Chasing Redbird is the story of a 13 year old girl named Zinny, and how she found an old, overgrown trail in her own backyard. When she found it, she realized her whole life was going to change. From the beginning, she knew that the trail would become more than just an ordinary summer project. It was her chance to have a place of her own, and to get people to finally notice her for her. But she somehow knew that the trail held the key to all kinds of questions. And that the only way to find the answers to those questions, was to find out where it went. Zinny knows that she has to find something in this trail, but she doesn't know what it is yet. She spends her whole summer looking for something, and eventually discovers herself, along with some romances. This tells of tale of a girl looking to find her place in the world, and finds it in her own backyard.
