Charvil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charvil is a village in Berkshire, England a few miles east of Reading on the A4 road to Maidenhead, located between Sonning and Twyford. The village is home to around 2,000 residents, known as "Charvillians", and is famous for its prehistoric water pump (located next to the mini-roundabout on Old Bath Road) which may date from 465BC. Charvil is a quaint, peaceful village with a proud reputation for extending a warm and friendly welcome to visitors. Recently the community was devastated to learn that graffiti had been daubed on a fence at the entrance to Chiltern Drive.
Former residents include Dick Turpin, Ernest Hemmingway, "diddy" David Hamilton, Alan Titmarsh and Justin from Tikkabilla.
