From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charlotte Greig is a Maltese journalist, singer and song-writer.
Charlotte Greig was born about 1970 in Malta. she was brought up in Somerset, Singapore, Suffolk and Kent. In 1990 she presented a six-part series on BBC Radio 2 called Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, about girl groups of the sixties. It was based on her own book of the same title, published 1989.
She has also written Girl Groups of the Sixties and Albums of the 50's (2004). By 1998 Charlotte was working for Mojo magazine, reviewing folk and country music. In the same year she issued her first album, Night Visiting Songs. It consisted of 3 traditional songs, with the rest written by herself. This has set the tone for her subsequent albums: acoustic understated gothic folk music. Unusually, she plays harmonium and mountain dulcimer rather than guitar, with occasional electronic additions. Her main influences are Anne Briggs and Nico. She appeared on the Topic anthology A Woman's Voice (many other anthologies exist with the same title).
