Charlie Cake Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A small unassuming park in Armley, Leeds; made famous (to a few) for its connection with Charlie - a 19th Century cake seller who would water his horse in the park.
Charlie made a spiced shortbread amongst other fare, that is said to have ben offered to Queen Victoria on her visit to open the Leeds Town Hall.
The park is also referenced in the song Charlie Cake Park from the Mekons album Honky Tonkin' (1987).
