[edit] Story

Charlie was a lieutenant in the United States Air Force who developed a unique fighting style based on his combat training, which allowed Charlie to manipulate the air around him to form "Sonic Booms" at will. During this time, he had become the winner of the U.S. Martial Arts tournament, but was dethroned by Ken Masters. This tournament coincided with Ryu's victory in the first World Warrior tournament.

During this time, he befriended a fellow serviceman by the name of Guile and offered to teach Guile his fighting style. Although Guile would get the grasp of Charlie's training, Guile's hot temper however caused Guile's Ki manipulation to not be as precise as Charlie, as Guile had to use both arms to produce a Sonic Boom as opposed to Charlie's ability to produce them with one arm. Shortly during this time, Charlie was deputized by Interpol as a special agent in the war against drugs, which would also lead Charlie to his final fate...

Because his death in Street Fighter Alpha 2 was retconned, Charlie is the only SFA2 character "unaccounted for."

In Street Fighter Alpha 3, Charlie's drug-trafficking investigations led to an entity called Shadoloo. He tried to bring this to his superiors, but they buried the investigation. On his own, Charlie teamed up with Interpol special agent Chun-Li to take down Shadoloo. Because the army brass was on the take from Shadoloo, they sent Guile to stop him. Charlie and Chun-Li had just found Shadoloo's ringleader, M. Bison, when Guile showed up. Guile won the match, but Charlie convinced his friend to help him stop Bison and his secret weapon, the Psycho Drive -- which would have granted the dictator unlimited power. Charlie and Guile went for the Psycho Drive while Chun-Li planted explosives around the base. Bison attacked Charlie and Guile -- being enhanced by the Psycho Drive he would have obliterated Guile with a Psycho Crusher, had Charlie not grabbed him in the middle of it. Charlie struggled with Bison and ordered Guile and Chun-Li to get out. They escaped and watched as Shadoloo's headquarters exploded, with Charlie and Bison inside it. When the rubble was excavated, all that was found of Charlie was his dog tag, which Guile eventually held on to as a reminder of his friend.

Charlie is presumed KIA (Killed in action).

[edit] Appearance

His distinguishing feature is a large forelock of blond hair. His style differentiates himself from Guile because he only uses one arm to perform the Sonic Boom and performs the Somersault Kick backwards.

[edit] Trivia

  • For a long time, it was believed that Nash was Charlie's last name. However, Capcom has confirmed that it is not. Despite this, some fans still combine his American and Japanese names, as well as licences such as the UDON comic.
  • Charlie does not actually need to wear glasses; requiring glasses would render him unfit for piloting an aircraft. However, he likes to wear them purely for the style.
  • In the Street Fighter movie the characters of Charlie and Blanka are combined. He is warped by Dr. Dhalsim. To explain that they are the same character, his full name in the movie is Carlos "Charlie" Blanka.
  • In Guile's ending in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Charlie's tombstone can be seen.
  • In the anime series Street Fighter II V, Charlie sported an entirely different design due to the fact that he had been mentioned several times in the Street Fighter II series, but was not actually seen. His last name here is also "Nash".
  • In one episode of the American Street Fighter cartoon based off the live-action movie, Blanka reverts back to his human form. His appearance is more similar to the Charlie portrayed in the live-action movie, but the extra clothes he wears in the episode is more similar to the clothes Charlie wears in the Alpha series.
