Charles/MGH (MBTA station)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Charles/MGH Station is located at the intersection of Cambridge Street and Charles Street, in Boston, Massachusetts. The station is on the Boston subway's Red Line and is elevated, being located at the Boston side of the Longfellow Bridge, which carries the Red Line along with vehicle traffic across the Charles River. Trains return to the Red Line tunnel just south of the station.
Future plans for the Charles/MGH station include becoming the new proposed final destination of the Blue Line subway. As of Nov. 2006, the station itself was still undergoing significant physical upgrading, including shifting the headhouse half a block down the tracks toward the Park St. station. The purpose of the upgrade is to make Charles/MGH compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
