[edit] Back story
Charlene, born 1968 in Coff's Harbour, was the youngest child of Fred and Madge Mitchell. She grew into a tomboy much to the chagrin of her mother and got into several scrapes including losing her virginity at 15 and becoming pregnant in the process. Charlene subsequently aborted the baby .
Worse was to come when Madge left Fred after catching him with another woman. Charlene opted to stay with her father but later fell out with him and came to down to Erinsborough to stay with her mother.
[edit] Charlene in Erinsborogh
Charlene arrived at Number 24, but nobody was home so she decided to break in. Scott Robinson, who lived next door witnessed this and mistook Charlene for a burglar and received a punch for his trouble. It was only when Madge came up the steps, Charlene revealed herself. It was a shock for both Scott and Charlene as they hadn't seen each other since they were kids.
Scott and Charlene later began dating then agreed to marry which was met with much opposition by Madge and Scott's father Jim. Eventually, their parents realised how in love they were and on July 1, 1987, Scott and Charlene were married with all their friends and family present.
The following year, Charlene received news in the form that her Grandfather, Dan had given her and Scott a house to live in, in Brisbane and Max, Charlene's Uncle had arranged a job for her as a mechanic. Charlene made a hard decision to leave Scott behind in Erinsborough, as he couldn't get a transfer to a newspaper in Brisbane just yet. Charlene bid a tearful farewell to Madge, her Brother Henry, and her husband Scott.
[edit] Subsequent life
Charlene has never been seen in the series since leaving for Queensland.
In 1989, Scott moved up to Brisbane after his transfer came through, and three years later, it was reported that Charlene gave birth to a son, Daniel, named after her grandfather. It was later also reported that they had a daughter, Madison.
After nearly 20 years of marriage, Scott and Charlene are still together. References to the couple are still made to this day by Charlene's stepfather Harold and Scott's brother Paul.
