Ariel is fictional character from the third Robotech Series: The New Generation (based on Aisha from Genesis Climber Mospeada). Unbeknownst to her, she is an Invid simulagent intended to be implanted along the human population. For this reason, she has the ability to sense oncoming Invid.
Rand and Rook of Scott Bernard's group found her in a town ruined by an Invid battle. She seemed to be in shock and could barely talk due to the horrible trauma that she had endured. Therefore, the group decided to bring her along with them and gave her a name, Marlene, after Scott Bernard's late fiancee.
As the story progresses, Ariel befriends the other travellers, especially Scott Bernard, with whom she falls in love. But Ariel suffers a wound to her arm, revealing green blood; the mark of an Invid. This discovery leads her to run away from the group and head for Reflex Point in the hopes of stopping the Invid from attacking.
As the group battles at Reflex Point, Scott's aircraft crashlands near Ariel; she tries to save him, healing his wounds and askin Scott if it is possible for an Invid and a human to fall in love. Scott never answers her and goes off into battle once again leaving Ariel sad.
After the fall of Reflex Point, Scott decides to leave the planet Earth and his friends so that he can meet up with Admiral Hunter's Fleet, leaving Ariel on Earth. She leaves with Lunk and Annie.

In the forthcoming sequel to the Robotech Series, it is believed that Scott Bernard will return to Earth to go back to Ariel, the alien that he fell in love with. However, little is known of the storyline.
