Chapter 6

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chapter 6 is a seven member Christian a cappella vocal group. They perform at colleges and universities all over the country, as well as high schools-- those performances often done in conjunction with music workshops. Their tour schedule also includes performing arts venues, conventions and corporate events, and church performances. They headlined for several seasons in Branson, Missouri, and continue performing occasionally in the Symphonic Pops Consortium's tribute to the 1950s, "The Fifties: The Golden Age of Black and White." Their main influences are the music groups Take 6, Acappella (group), and Rockapella.

The seven members of the group are: Chuck Bosworth, Mark Grizzard (the group's primary arranger and vocal swing), Jarrett Johnson, Luke Menard, John Musick, Nathan Pufall, and A.D. Stonecipher. All seven attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. The ensemble was originally offered as a class in the mid-90s, but in 2001, the current group decided to turn professional, and moved to Chicago.

Their website describes their music as a "comedy-infused blend of pop, jazz, gospel, and rock". Some of their most beloved repertoire include their five minute version of The Wizard of Oz, their jingle for Krispy Kreme, and "And I Raised Cod," their parody of the Acappella song "And They Praised God," written when they appeared in a venue which requested that no Christian music be performed.

They have released four CDs-- A cappella 101, Live, ChristmasTime, and Swing Shift-- and a live concert DVD which have sold over 25,000 copies, and have made an appearance on ABC's Good Morning America show.

In 2005 the Contemporary A Cappella Society (CASA) awarded Chapter 6's "The Wizard of Oz" (Swing Shift) the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award for Best Humor Song.
