Chaparral High School in Temecula, California, is a public high school for grades 9-12. The school opened in 1998 with a class of Freshmen and Sophomores. It is a California Distinguished School.
In 2003 Chaparral had some 2900 students and 120 teachers. Some 5% of the students were eligible for free lunch, much lower than the state average of 45%. According to Newsweek Magazine, it is listed among the top 1000 schools in the United States of America.
In 2006, new principal Daniel Kenley took the place of former principal Paul Robinson, who left to become a principal in Rancho Bernardo.
The school mascot is the Puma
The Chaparral football team progressed to the CIF SS Playoffs for the first time in December 2006.
