Chaos (Sailor Moon)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chaos (カオス Kaosu?) is a fictional character, and the major villain, in the Sailor Moon universe. Chaos sent incarnations in the form of Sailor Moon's major enemies. In the manga, when she fights the final enemy of an arc it is basically an enormous mass of black fourth-dimensional space. In the end with the help of all of the senshi Sailor Moon is able to force it into the Galaxy Cauldron and everyone who was killed are sent back to their originating planet and time, reincarnated after the battle. However it is indicated that Chaos is not dead and will come back as Sailor Chaos much the same as it did in Sailor Cosmos's future. Sailor Cosmos's future seemed much bleaker than the one painted in the anime series.
Sailor Chaos never appears in the anime, but Chaos appears very briefly in episode 200 being expelled from Sailor Galaxia after she is defeated. Other than this, Chaos does not appear in the anime series, save for references in the Sailor Stars story arc where the name "Chaos" is alternately used with konton, the Japanese word for chaos. Sailor Galaxia ultimately reveals herself as the soldier who sealed Chaos within her own body and thus saved the galaxy. Chaos possesses Galaxia in order to give her the power to fight the kibou no hikari - the Light of Hope - Eternal Sailor Moon. But Usagi is able to reach the small bit of hope left in Galaxia's own heart, and she releases Chaos from her body, ending the anime story arc.

[edit] Sailor Chaos
Sailor Chaos is Chaos reborn.
According to Sailor Cosmos, Chaos will emerge from the Galaxy Cauldron reborn as a powerful Sailor Senshi[1]. Sailor Cosmos, frustrated with an ongoing battle against Sailor Chaos, disguised herself as Chibichibi to travel back in time and convince Sailor Moon to destroy the Galaxy Cauldron, and thereby prevent Sailor Chaos emerging to start a new series of devastating wars.
Sailor Chaos never actually appears as a living character in the Stars manga; a vague image is only shown once when she is mentioned. When Sailor Moon descends into the Galaxy Cauldron, she calls upon all the powers of all the Sailor Senshi in the universe and attempts to envelop Chaos but she is repelled at the last moment. However, with the power of all the galaxy's Sailor Crystals as one, the Cauldron is revived and the Sailor Senshi that had been killed were sent to be reborn. However, Chaos could not be completely eliminated.
[edit] Forms of Chaos
The following are stated to be forms of Chaos, but this only applies to the manga and not the anime:
- Queen Metallia
- Death Phantom
- Pharaoh 90
- Queen Nehellenia
- Sailor Galaxia
- Sailor Chaos
In the 5th musical, Chaos takes the form of Kyaosu, who works as a low-level henchman for Galaxia. After Galaxia's defeat, he explains that he was forced to take a weak physical shell after Galaxia defeated him. He then absorbs the power that Galaxia had sealed within herself to become Chaos once more until being defeated by the senshi.
