Channel Country
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Channel Country of Queensland, Australia, is located in the remote south west of the state. It is a series of ancient flood plains with rivers that now flow only intermittently. The principal rivers are Cooper's Creek and the Diamantina River, which if there is enough flow would end up in Lake Eyre, South Australia. In most year's the flood waters are absorbed into the earth or evaporate. The primary land use is cattle grazing.
