Chamblon is a municipality in the district of Yverdon of the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland, and is located on a hill overlooking Yverdon and the lac de Neuchatel. It hosts a military training facility, the Casernes de Chamblon, a few small sized farms and a retirement home. The Casernes host primarily infantry and mechanized infantry units, most notably the infantry cadets training unit, which all upcoming NCO and Officers must pass. Until 2003, it also hosted the combat officers training unit, which was considered to be among the hardest trainings of the Swiss army. The Swiss Raid Commando, the largest special forces competition was also held there until 2003. Notable geographical features are marshy, environmentally protected areas, steep hills and high exposure to the wind. It also has a great view to the Jura Chain of mountains, as well as the Lac de Neuchatel. Nearest major towns are Yverdon (2km) and Lausanne (30km).
