Chamber of Gauf
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chamber of Gauf in the Japanese anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion is used for the storage of the "spare bodies" of Rei Ayanami, which are seen floating naked in a tank. Rei is also seen receiving some type of treatment or testing from Ritsuko Akagi while in the central tube of the room, and after she is killed fighting against the Angel Armisael Gendo Ikari and Kozo Fuyutsuki have a conversation in front of the central tube before Rei is apparently brought back to life.
After Ritsuko's realization that Gendo is merely using her in the same fashion as her mother was manipulated she takes Misato Katsuragi and Shinji Ikari to the chamber, revealing the true nature of Rei and destroys the Rei clones, thus putting an end to the dummy plug system. The room is also seen briefly during The End of Evangelion as Rei is shown looking at the disintegrated bodies of her clones.
