Château-Chalon AOC
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Château-Chalon is an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée for wines made in the Jura wine region of France, around the village of Château-Chalon.
Only white vin jaune wines from the Savagnin grape can be made in this appellation. However, they are not labeled as vin jaune. It is bottled in the traditional bottle called clavelin that is 62 cl capacity (supposedly the amount left of a litre of wine after ageing in cask for six years - the legal minimum for Chateau Chalon). The wine once bottled can age for up to fifty years.
