CFB Dundurn

Canadian Forces Base Dundurn (also CFB Dundurn or 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn) is a Canadian Forces Base located approximately 40 km south of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The base occupies some 90 square kilometers, with ranges, training areas, many structures, and a large ammunition depot. The role of the detachment is to provide support and training facilities for 17 Wing out of CFB Winnipeg.

The area was settled in the late 1800s, and was used by Canadian military units as early as 1928 when it was organized as Camp Dundurn. During World War II the Royal Canadian Air Force used the camp as a training ground and bombing range. It also became a transit hub and holding area for troops returning from the war. After the war ended, the ammunition depot was expanded and provisions were provided on base to accommodate additional permanent personnel.

In 1966, with the unification of the Canadian Forces, Camp Dundurn became Detachment Dundurn, a satellite of 15 Wing out of CFB Moose Jaw. In 1988, Dundurn's support role transferred to include 17 Wing out of CFB Winnipeg, effectively doubling the base's support responsibility.
