[edit] What makes a good question?

- Provokes thought by reference desk answer contributors
- Asks for an answer that is intriguing to at least one reference desk answer contributor
- Makes the reference desk answer contributors go, "Ooooh, that's really interesting"
- ...or, "Wow, I had no idea!"
- ...or even, "Hmm, that's really different, lemme see what I can help out with here..."
- ...or, "Wow, I had no idea!"
We don't get questions like this often here, so if you're reading this message and received the following message at your question:
This has been identified as a good question by the Association of Reference Desk Employees. Congratulations on asking something thought-provoking and interesting, and we look forward to more questions like these in the future, either from you or someone else.
